The Butler Building was built in 1909. Its original purpose was to house the first League City bank. Over its life, the building housed a variety of businesses including a post office, hardware store, drug store, and had apartments upstairs. At one point, it was also a cafe! Over time the building fell into disrepair. Through the passion and determination of Nancy Richards and Janice Gunnin-Wilson, it found new life as Butler’s Courtyard.
Butler’s Courtyard is considered by many to be a premiere event venue for the Houston and surrounding area; particularly South Houston and Clear Lake. It is Butler’s Courtyard’s mission to exceed clients’ expectations. We seek to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime experience set in an environment of historic elegance. Butler’s Courtyard is a spacious venue ideal for weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, corporate events, and more. We’ve been operating our quaint and charming event venue for almost 20 years! Also available to our clients is Bar 1909, an exclusive bar only open for exclusive Special Events.
